Notice about the Implementation of Online Review through the Visa Application Website
Dear Applicants,
In order to further enhance the efficiency of visa processing and improve the overall service experience, the Chinese Visa Application Service Center in Kathmandu, in collaboration with the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Nepal, will launch an online review viathe Chinese Visa Application website.
Effective Wednesday, June 25, 2025, all visa applicants—excluding those applying for visas to the Hong Kong SAR and Macao SAR—must complete the visa application form and upload supporting documents online for review prior to visiting the Visa Center. Only applicants who successfully pass the online review will be eligible to submit their documentsat the Visa Center.
Note: Applicants for diplomatic, official, or other special types of visas should continue to apply directly at the Consular Section.
Applicants who have already completed the visa application form under the current system may submit their documents at the Visa Centeruntil Monday, July 7, 2025. From Tuesday, July 8, 2025, visa applications submitted through the previous platform will no longer be accepted.
Please be advised that during the system upgrade period from 17:00 on June 24 to 09:00 on June 25, applicants are strongly advised not to submit applications in order to prevent data loss.
Once the online review function is activated, the visa application process will be as follows:
I. Prepare Visa Application Documents
Applicants must prepare all required basic documents as well as any necessary supporting materials. Please refer to the following link for detailed information:Click here
II. Complete the Visa Application Form and Upload Documents Online
Visit the website of the Chinese Visa Application Service Center in Kathmandu:Click here
Register an account, log in, and follow the prompts to complete the Visa Application Form. Upload all required documents and submit them for initial review.
All applicants (excluding those applying for visas to the Hong Kong SAR and Macao SAR) are required to use this online system to submit their applications.
Reminder:
After submission, the Chinese Embassy in Nepal or the Visa Center may request additional documents. Please regularly check the "Application Status" page and submit any supplementary materials as required. Once the review is approved, the application status will change to "Pending Passport Submission".
III. Submit Visa Application Documents and Pay Applicable Fees at the Visa Center
1. Once the applicant's status is displayed as “Pending Passport Submission” and the confirmation email has been received, the applicant may bring the printed Visa Application Confirmation and visit the Visa Center on weekdays from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM at:
1st Floor, Rising Mall, Durbar Marg, Kathmandu, Nepal
2. Submit the following documents at the Visa Center:
l Original passport
l One recent color passport-sized photo (taken within the last 6 months, bareheaded, 48mm × 33mm)
l Any required supporting documents
3. All applicants must provide fingerprints (10 fingers) at the Visa Center. The following applicants are exempt from fingerprint collection:
l Applicants under 14 or over 70 years of age
l Holders of diplomatic passports or those eligible for diplomatic, service/official, or courtesy visas
l Applicants who provided fingerprints using the same passport at the Chinese Embassy in Nepal within the past five years
l Applicants with missing fingers or for whom fingerprint collection is not possible
l Until December 31, 2025, fingerprint collection is waived for eligible applicants applying for single- or double-entry business, tourist, family visit, transit, or crew member visas.
Important: Fingerprints must be provided in person. Any attempt to use an impersonator will result in visa refusal, denial of entry into China, and other legal consequences.
4. All visa and service fees must be paid in full at the time of document submission.
IV. Collect the Visa
Applicants may collect their passportsfrom the Visa Centerby presenting the collection receipt issued at the time of submission. Please visit the Visa Center during the designated collection hours.
