【NEW】Procedure for the China Online Visa Processing System
Effective from 15/09/2025, please visit the Chinese Visa Application Service Center website at www.visaforchina.cn, select "Australia - Melbourne," and enter the web page for Chinese Visa Application Service Center in Melbourne. This web page is intended for ordinary passport holders residing in Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia, and Western Australia applying for Chinese visas. Applications for Chinese diplomatic, official or courtesy visas will continue to be directly processed by the Embassy and Consulates of China in Australia.

Step 1: Register Account, Complete the Online Visa Application Form, and Upload Application Materials digitally.
It is recommended to use Google Chrome for registration and form filling. Mobile devices such as phones or tablets may experience compatibility issues with the website.
1.1 Create Account
Click【Create Account】in the upper right corner of the homepage and complete the account registration process as prompted.
Note: Please be sure to remember the registered email and password for future login and tracking of application status.
1.2 Complete the Online Application Form + Upload Electronic Materials
Once logged in, click【Application Form】button in the upper right corner of the homepage. The page will automatically redirect to the "China Online Visa Application” (COVA) system. Thoroughly read the instructions on the page, complete the Visa Application Form online, upload the required materials digitally and submit. After reaching the "Confirm Fee" page, be sure to click the Submit button again to complete the online application submission.
Note: If the status shows "PENDING," it means the application has not yet been submitted to the Visa Center.
Step 2: Check Visa Online Processing Status and Confirm the Submission Date to visit Center
2.1 Revise or Supplement Materials
After completing the online submission, regularly check the【Track your application】 or 【Completed】on the "My Account" page to stay updated on the Visa Application Online Processing status. Pay attention to email notifications regarding status changes. If revisions or supplementary materials are notified, locate the application form on the "My Account" page and click "Modify" to make the necessary changes. Please do NOT cancel the application then resubmit a new form to avoid additional fees.
Note: If the status shows "Rejected," it normally indicates that revisions or supplementary materials are required.
2.2 Online review procedure completion
Once the status changes to "Passport to be submitted" please visit our center as soon as possible to submit the required physical materials.
Note: Online review process completion does not guarantee visa approval.
Step 3: After Visa Application Online Process completed, Submit Physical Materials and Pay Fees at the Visa Center (No Appointment Required)
3.1 Submit Physical Materials
① Original passport or original travel documents. If an old passport or old travel documents contains a valid Chinese visa or long-term residence permit, please bring the old passport or old travel documents as well.
② One printed copy of the “ Visa Application Certificate”, which can be downloaded and printed from the approval email received after passing the Visa Application Online review procedure.
③ One recent passport-sized photo (please click here for photo specifications).
④ If uploaded materials include proof of family relationship or property ownership, please bring the original file (if applicable, please click here for details).
⑤ Original of a previous Chinese passport (if you were previously a Chinese citzen and are applying for a Chinese visa for the first time)
⑥ Other supporting materials as specified.
3.2 Payment in center
Online payment is temporarily unavailable. Please pay the fees when submitting physical materials at the Visa Center. Currently, only pay by card.

Step 4: Collection
After submitting your materials in person, please check the【Track your application】 or 【Completed】on the "My Account" page to stay updated about your visa status.
Once the status updates to "Pending Collection", please visit our center as soon as possible with the original Pick-up Form to collect.
