1. Basic documents
(1) Passport
Original passport with at least six months of remaining validity and with two blank adjacent pages for the visa, a photocopy of the passport's data page and the photo page( if it is separate from the data page).
(2) Online Visa Application and Appointment for Visa Application Submission
All visa applicants (including diplomatic and official passport holders, not including Hong Kong and Macao visa applicants) need to visit http://www.visaforchina.org and fill in the application form online. When completing the applicants need to print and sign the form, and print the Confirmation Page of Online Visa Application.Visa applicants with ordinary passport should visit http://www.visaforchina.org to make an appointment for submission and bring the printed and signed application form, together with other related documents to the Chinese Visa Application Center in Nairobi. Applicants with diplomatic or official passport or members of important government delegation do not need to make an appointment and can submit the application directly to the Chinese Embassy in Kenya.
(3) Photo

(4) Photocopy of previous Chinese passports or previous Chinese visas (applicable to those who were Chinese citizens and have obtained foreigncitizenship).
Those who apply for a Chinese visa for the first time, should provide their previous Chinese passport and a photocopy of its data page.Those who have obtained Chinese visas ever before and wish to apply for a Chinese visa with a renewed foreign passport that does not contain any Chinese visa, should present the photocopy of the previous passport's data page and the photo page( if it is separate from the data page), as well as the previous Chinese visa page (If the name on the current passport differs from that on the previous one, an official document stating the name change must be submitted).
Workers visiting China as resident experts, researchers, teachers, managers and local or international organizational staff members should provide:
Original and photocopy of Permit for Foreign Experts Working in China issued by the State Bureau of Foreign Experts;
Workers visiting China as offshore platforms crew members should provide:
Letter of Invitation to Foreigners for Offshore Petroleum Operations in China issued by China National Offshore Oil Corporation;
Workers visiting China as representative in a foreign company representative office should provide:
1. Registration certificate (regional) of the resident representative office of foreign enterprises issued by related administrative department of industry and commerce Or foreign company representative office permissions issued by relevant Chinese commercial department.
2. Invitation letter issued by a relevant Chinese authority (“Invitation letter of duly authorized unit” or “Confirmation letter of invitation letter” accompanied by Chinese company invitation letter ).
Workers visiting China for commercial performances should provide:
An approval document for commercial performance issued by Chinese government authority for Cultural Affairs (only applicable to applicants for commercial performances in mainland China).
Workers visiting China as resident personnel of a National Tourism Agency of foreign Government:
1. Note Verbale or Official Letter issued by a relevant authority of a foreign government;
2. Invitation letter issued by a relevant Chinese authority (“Invitation letter of duly authorized unit” or “Confirmation letter of invitation letter” accompanied by Chinese company invitation letter).
Applicants that are not included in any of the abovementioned cases should provide:
1. Alien Employment License of the People’s Republic of China issued by the Chinese government authority for Human Resources and Social Security.
2. Invitation letter issued by a relevant Chinese authority (“Invitation letter of duly authorized unit” or “Confirmation letter of invitation letter” accompanied by Chinese company invitation letter ).
We kindly remind you that:
Holders of Z-Visa must apply for a residence permit from the immigration department of the local public security authority in the place intended to stay within 30 days of entry to China.
Please be noted:
(1) If necessary, the consular officer may require the applicant to provide othersupplementary materials, or require an interview.
(2) The consular officer will decide whether or not to issue a visa and decide on thevisa validity, duration of stay in China and number of entries based on the specificassessment of each application .
