Online Chinese Visa Application Procedure
Application STEP 1: Online Submission
(Complete the Online Visa Application Form + Upload Supporting Documents)
This website is for applicants who are applying for a Chinese visa in Tokyo.
Please make sure you have chosen the correct location.
(Check the top right corner of the page)
1. Create an account and sign in. (Check the top right corner of the page)
2. Complete the Online Visa Application Form.
Note: All applicants (excluding those applying for visas to Hong Kong SAR, China and Macao SAR, China) must complete this step online.
3. Upload all supporting documents, including your passport(s), photo(s), and other required documents, then click the "Submit" button.
4. On the "Confirm Payment" page, click "Submit" again, otherwise the status will remain "PENDING PAYMENT".
Note: Online payment is not yet available. Please make the payment at the Visa Application Center when submitting your passport and other documents after your online review has been approved.
5. Wait for the online review to be approved. (Only after the online review has been approved should you submit your passport at the Chinese Visa Application Service Center in Tokyo.)
Note: After submitting your application online, the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Japan or our center may request further documents at any time. Please log in to your personal account and check the status of your application in a timely manner by following the steps below:
"My Account" → "Visa" → "Completed".
5.1 You might receive an email stating you should upload additional documents or make other modifications, and the status will be "To be modified" or "Supplementary documents to be provided".
5.2 You might receive a confirmation email when the application has been approved online, and the status will be shown as “Online review completed”. Please print the attached "Visa Application Certificate" from the email and bring it, along with other required documents (see STEP 2 for details), to the Chinese Visa Application Service Center in Tokyo.
Note: Receiving an email stating that your online review has been approved does not mean your visa has been issued.
Application STEP 2: Submit visa application documents and Payment at our center
Offline Submission after Online Approval at the Chinese Visa Application Service Center in Tokyo (No Appointment Required)
Business Hours:
Monday--Friday (closed on public holidays)
Visa application and Payment: 9:00–15:00 (extended service to 16:00)
Note: Applicants for diplomatic, official, courtesy, and other visas are still requested to submit their applications at the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Japan.
1. Submit the following documents to the Visa Center (if necessary, you may be asked to provide more documents):
1) Visa Application Certificate (attached to the approval email).
2) Original current passport and old passport(s) issued within the last 5 years (and passport(s) of other nationality if you hold more than one nationality).
3) A passport-sized photo (only if the uploaded one was indicated as unqualified; taken within the last 6 months, frontal view, color, no hat, white background, 2-inch size, 48mm × 33mm).

4) Original Residence Card (if you are a long-term resident of Japan holding a third-country nationality).
5) Original previous Chinese documents (Passport, Travel document, or Exit and Entry Permit) and original proof of naturalization (if you were previously a Chinese national and are applying for a Chinese visa for the first time).
6) Original documents required during online upload, if requested
7) Other supporting documents as requested by the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Japan or the Visa Application Center.
Note:All applicants holding ordinary passports will be requested to have their fingerprints collected.
The following applicants are exempt from fingerprinting:
① Applicants under 14 or over 70 years old;
② Diplomatic or service passport holders, or applicants eligible for diplomatic, official and courtesy visas;
③ Applicants who have applied for a visa and had their fingerprints collected within the past five years at the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Japan with the same passport.
④ Applicants missing all ten fingers or unable to provide any fingerprints.
⑤ Applicants for short term visas (staying for less than 180 days) for one or two entries before December 31, 2025.
※※Important Note: If the Chinese Embassy considers that fingerprint collection is still required after review, the Visa Center will inform the applicant.
The Chinese Embassy kindly request that applicants should have their fingerprints collected in person. Those that forge fingerprints or use other people's fingerprints will be denied entry into China and bear all the consequences incurred.
2. Payment
Applicants shall pay the visa and service fees in cash (Japanese yen) or by debit/credit card (VISA, MasterCard, UnionPay, JCB, American Express, Diners Club International, or Discover) at the Visa Application Center.
Application STEP 3: Collection
1. From the day you submit the application at our center:
Collection is on the 4th working day for regular service.
Collection is on the 3rd working day for the express service.
Collection is on the 2nd working day for the urgent service.
Please collect your passport during business hours at our center by presenting the original Pick-up Form issued at the time of application submission.
Note: The date stated on your Pick-up Form is for reference only.
2. Collection time
Regular service: 9:00–16:00 on working days (extended service to 17:00)
Express service and urgent service: 15:00–16:00 on working days (extended service to 17:00)
