Process and Documents Required for Chinese Visa
STEP 1: Online Visa Application Form Filling
1.1 Create Account and Sign In
Click here to Create account and register using a valid email address. After successful registration, click here to Sign in.
Note:
- Please remember your registered email and password, otherwise you may fail to sign in and fill in and manage your application form online.
- Applicants should complete the application form with correct and real information, and will take full legal responsibility for the authenticity. Any false or incomplete information provided by the applicant, or any use of somebody else’s photo, will be considered as visa fraud and will result in visa rejection or refusal of entry.
1.2 Fill in the Application Form, Upload Documents
Click here to Fill Online application form. Ensure you have correctly selected 'Medan' in “ the city you have chosen for your visa application", as we only accept applications submit to "Medan" city. Fill out the application form according to each visa applicant's situation and upload relevant documents, including passport, photo, and other required supporting documents.

L Visa (Tourism Visa)
- Passport data page, extension page, endorsement page, visa pages, entry and exit stamp pages, two blank visa pages(passports of the past 5 years, if any)
- A piece of recent photo (Photo Requirements)
- Air ticket (round trip) and hotel reservation or invitation letter issued by organizations or individual in China, including Chinese ID (both sides)
M/F Visa

- A piece of recent photo (Photo Requirements)
- Air ticket reservation (if any)
Z Visa

Q/S Visa
- Passport data page, extension page, endorsement page, visa pages, entry and exit stamp pages, two blank visa pages(passports of the past 5 years, if any)

- Invitation Letter for Q visa、Invitation Letter for S Visa or other documents for humanitarian reasons
- A copy of inviter’s ID (Q, both sides), inviter’s passport data page (S), inviter’s residence permit in China (S)
- The certificate of kinship (original and copy of certificate for Q1 and S1, copy of certificate for Q2 and S2).
*If apply Q1/S1 visa with a kindship certificate issued in Indonesia, certificate should be Apostilled.
*If apply Q/S visa with a certificate of kinship issued by a third country, certificate should be legalized by Chinese embassy or consulate in that third country.

G Visa
- Passport data page, extension page, endorsement page, visa pages, entry and exit stamp pages, two blank visa pages(passports of the past 5 years, if any)
- A piece of recent photo (Photo Requirements)
- For transit through China, an onward air (train or ship) ticket with confirmed date and seat to the destination country or region
For crewman, invitation letter from Chinese company and guarantee letter from employer
J Visa
- Passport data page, extension page, endorsement page, visa pages, entry and exit stamp pages, two blank visa pages(passports of the past 5 years, if any)
- A piece of recent photo (Photo Requirements)
- For J1 visa, a visa notice issued by Information Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China and an official authorization letter issued by the media organization.
For J2 visa, a visa notice issued by Information Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China or other Chinese authorized department and an official authorization letter issued by the media organization.

D Visa

- Confirmation Form for Alien Permanent Residence Status issued by the Ministry of Public Security of China (original and copy)
R Visa
- Passport data page, extension page, endorsement page, visa pages, entry and exit stamp pages, two blank visa pages(passports of the past 5 years, if any)
- A piece of recent photo (Photo Requirements)
- Relevant Certificate documents issued by Chinese authorities prove applicant meets the requirements of high-level talents and personnel with special skills urgently needed by China
- Air ticket reservation (if any)
For all type of visa above-mentioned, if applicant is under 18 years old, the following supplementary documents are required:
- A photocopy of the unabridged birth certificate of the applicant
- A photocopy of the parents' passport or ID card
- An affidavit from parents authorizing the travel (Letter of Consent from Parents). This affidavit should contain the dates of travel and parents contact information.
If applicant come from third country, the following supplementary documents are required:
- A photocopy of the latest Indonesia entry permit page on passport.
1.3 Submit the Application
Once the application form is completed and checked, click the "Submit". Online payment is currently not available. Payment can only be made at the Chinese Visa Application Service Centre in Medan after the online review is completed.
1.4 Wait for Initial Review and Online Verification
Applications can be submitted offline at the Chinese Visa Application Service Centre in Medan after the online review is completed.
(1) Applicants may receive an email requesting additional document uploads/modifications. The status changes to "Rejected to be modified/Supplement Document". Make modifications and resubmit. The status will change to "Under review".
(2) If the online review is completed, the applicant will receive a confirmation email with the status "Online review completed". Print the attached Visa Application Certificate and bring it to the Chinese Visa Application Service Centre in Medan along with other documents (see Step 2).
(3) Monitor the application status through the Applicant's account.
Please Remember: Receiving the confirmation email of online approval for your application does NOT mean that your visa has been approved!
STEP 2: Offline Submission at the Visa Centre (After online verification is completed. Appointment not required)
2.1 Submission at the Visa Centre
Address: Royal Condominium Tower B, 2nd Floor Palang Merah-Sukamulia No.1
After walking in the center, please get the Queue number,wait until your queue number is be called.
Mandatory documents to bring include:
(1) Visa Application Certificate (attachment of the approval email);
(2) Original current valid passport and old passports (in the past 5 years, if any);
(3) Passport-size photo, if the uploaded one is deemed non-compliant (taken within the last 6 months, white background, no hat, color, small size 2 inches 48mm×33mm);
(4) Original previous Chinese passport (if the applicant was formerly a Chinese citizen and is applying for a Chinese visa for the first time);
(5) For Q1 or S1 visa applications, please bring the original proof of family relationship;
(6) If necessary, consular officers reserve the right to request other supporting documents, additional documents, or an interview with the applicant.
2.2. Biometric Data Collection (Fingerprints and Photo)
All applicants holding ordinary passports will be asked to provide fingerprints and have their photo taken, except for:
(1) Until December 31, 2025, applicants for short-term visas (intended duration of stay less than 180 days) for single or double entry;
(2) Applicants who have had fingerprints collected within the last five years at the Chinese Visa Application Service Centre in Medan with the same passport;
(3) Applicants under 14 years old or over 70 years old;
(4) If all ten fingers of the applicant are defective, fingerprinting is not required.
Except for the exemptions listed above, applicants must appear in person for fingerprinting and photo capture. Anyone found forging fingerprints and photos or using another person's fingerprints and photo will be denied entry into China and bear all resulting consequences.
2.3 Payment

STEP 3: Passport/Visa Collection
You will receive a Pick-up Form after you make your payment. You may go to locate 1 for collecting your passport from the scheduled date on the Pick-up Form. Collection date may be postponed for special circumstances.
The calculation of working days for visa processing starts from the day the passport is submitted at the Visa Centre. The submission day counts as the 1st working day:
Regular Service: Collect on the 4th working day.
Express Service: Collect on the 3rd working day.
Please collect the visa & passport during working hours at the Visa Center by presenting the original Collection Receipt.You may collect your document on your own or entrust someone to help you. A power of attorney is not requested, as the original Pick-up Form is the only valid evidence to collect your passport.

Please be advised:
1. It is not allowed to use your phone, tablet or other electronic devices in our office unless it is requested.
2. It is suggested that the applicants should purchase air tickets to China after obtaining the visa (except L visa). Any possible relevant loss occurred will be borne by the applicants.
3. Following the cancellation of the online visa appointment system, there may be more applicants on site at peak times. It is recommended to arrange time reasonably and apply at staggered times. Peak times are usually on Mondays and around holidays.
